We are always seeking to apply for grants to enable us to do vital work towards repairing our ancient (and modern!) buildings so that they continue to provide a focus and amenity base for the community, as well as a sacred space for worship.
Many thanks to those of you, as beneficiaries of the building, who signed the statement of support for this work.
We are grateful to the following organisations who have provided us with grants towards a number of major projects over the past few years:
Awards for All FCC Communities Foundation
Benefact Trust National Churches Trust
In addition to seeking grants we undertake successful fund-raising on a regular basis.
A Thank You to National Churches Trust
A few weeks ago in March, 2025, St Robert’s church looked like this:
The corbels, part of the roof structure, were being repaired and strengthened. In close up they now look like this:
You can see where reinforcement has been inserted. In time, of course, the new wood will darken but for now it is evidence of this next chapter in the history of our ancient church.
Such necessary but highly specialized work is expensive. Our treasurer made a bid to National Churches Trust and they gave us a grant of £4254. This was an enormous help as we were facing a bill for the project of over £15,000.
If you were not aware of the National Churches Trust and the valuable work they do, you can find out more at www.nationalchurchestrust.org.
